Assessment Process and Examination Pattern

COL exams at Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth will be conducted twice a year (June and December) via proctored online mode. Examinations, passing criteria, and student discipline will follow Dr. D Y Patil Vidyapeeth’s regulations, as revised from time to time.
The overall course assessment has three parts:

1. Self-Assessment (Continuous Assessment)
2. Formative Assessment
3. Summative Assessment OR Term End Examination

1.Self-Assessment Questions (SAQ) :  Continuous formative assessment provides complete understanding of the entire syllabus. Each unit will have 10 MCQs. These are practice questions, not graded. The questions will evaluate learners’ recall and retention abilities.

2.Formative Assessment of Domain Core Courses: Formative Assessment will have assignments I and II.

  • Formative assignment I: To include 20 MCQs (MCSR, TF, FIB) with unit proportion. For formative assignment I, each question will carry 1 mark, total 20 marks. The questions will evaluate learners’ memory and comprehension abilities.

  • Formative assignment II: 5 MCMR-style questions for one situation practice. For formative assignment II, each question will carry 2 marks, total 10 marks. Questions must evaluate learners’ ability to apply acquired knowledge.
    Formative assignment I and II will be reviewed for a total of 30 marks. Passing percentage: 40%

3. Summative Assessment / Term End Examination (Proctored):

Summary/Term End Exam (Proctored)

Two sections with 70 marks will comprise summative assessment.

  • Section I (A): 40 one-mark MCQs (MCSR, TF, FIB) with unit proportionality. Questions will test learners’ recall, understanding, and application of knowledge.
  • Section I (B): Five 10-mark MCMR-style situational questions. Each question is worth 2 marks. The questions will test students’ analysis and evaluation skills. This section is worth 10 points.
  • Section II: Students must choose two of three 10-mark subjective/descriptive questions.
    The questions will test students’ analysis and evaluation skills. This section is worth 20 marks.

Summative assessments sections I and II will be scored for a total of 70 marks. Passing percent: 40%

The results of formative assignments and summative assessments will be evaluated for 100 marks. Formative assignments and summative assessments require separate passing.
