Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 by the late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, former president of India. Initially, it had just one department for Sanskrit. However, it has since expanded its offerings to include a wide range of courses and study programs such as MCom, BCom, MA, BA, and others, which are available in online mode. The University is located in the state of Haryana. This University holds accreditation from various government bodies, including NAAC with an A+ grade, the National Institutional Ranking Framework, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell. The University campus is situated in Kurukshetra, a renowned location described in the Mahabharata Epic. It is located on the sacred Brahmi Sarover river and has an expansive 400-acre land area.

The University campus is fully equipped with a comprehensive range of facilities, ranging from essential to top-tier. The campus features an air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 2500 individuals, equipped with a 70mm projector. Additionally, the campus offers a meeting hall, senate hall, sports court, pool pool, hoop court, volleyball courts, and many other courts for other sports.
