UGC Issues Warning to 54 Private Universities Over Guideline Violations
The University Grants Commission identified 54 state private institutions defaulters for refusing to submit required details and provide accessible on their official websites despite multiple reminders. This list includes Amity University, Azim Premji University, Dr. D.Y. Patil Dnyan Prased University, Swami Vivekananda University, etc. Madhya Pradesh has 10 leading institutions. The UGC is urging these institutions to take urgent remedial action and risk higher penalties.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned 54 state private institutions for not providing information as required by Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956, or for not publishing their public self-disclosure information on their official portals.
The regulation adheres to UGC guidelines on public self-disclosure released on June 10, 2024, regulating all higher education institutions maintain an online presence that presents important information to users.
Universities have been notified to provide complete data for examination in line with Section 13 of the UGC Act, in the specified digital format available at ugc.gov.in, alongside additional documentation certified by the university registrar. Also, institutions were requested to publish the complete forms and attachments on their websites, providing a link on the homepage for public accessibility.
Despite repeated reminders via emails and virtual meetings, 54 state private universities across Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal have failed to comply with UGC directives.
