About MTech/ME Programs
Master of Engineering and Master of Technology are two similar degrees with slight variations in scope. After graduation in engineering focuses on advanced engineering education that is oriented towards knowledge development. Master of Technology focuses on practical knowledge of the subject, making it skill-oriented. As a student pursuing a master’s degree in engineering, there are many opportunities available in the engineering industry after your graduation.
Enrolling in a Master of Technology programme helps students to engage in research activities and pursue careers as researchers in various engineering disciplines. Several prestigious companies and organisations hire candidates for the role of “Technologist” to develop new technologies that will benefit the organisation and drive progress.
M.E focuses on specialised engineering knowledge, while MTech enhances existing knowledge to improve practical skills and develop new technologies through research at companies or research institutes.
Many ME graduates come from IITs or private colleges because most government institutions only provide undergraduate engineering courses. Many colleges and universities affiliated with the government of India offer MTech programmes.
